Description
Résumé : Intended for scholars of religious and Islamic studies as well as for nonspecialists, Islamic Thought Through Protestant Eyes examines the engagement of early modern Protestant theologians with Islamic thought. Drawing on the unpublished dissertations, disputations, and academic works by primarily Lutheran scholars, Mehmet Karabela analyzes three themes contained in these texts: theology, philosophy, and Muslim sects. This book also provides analyses and translations of the Latin texts as well as short biographies of the authors. Karabela broadens the conventional interpretation of the Reformation as a solely European Christian phenomenon and opens up novel directions for future research.
