| 330 | |a Dans le cadre de ce travail de recherche, je me suis intéressé à la situation des personnes atteintes de handicap physique, aux conséquences de la survenue du handicap sur leur construction personnelle et leur intégration sociale. Face au handicap physique, notre société propose des réponses en raisonnant en termes de moyens. Prévaut le comment ? : comment faire avec ce que l individu est capable de faire, avec ce qui lui reste de valide, comment lui permettre d être et de faire comme tout le monde. Cette démarche obéit à un principe d égalité. Or le handicap laisse l individu dans une situation de liminalité sociale vis-à-vis de la normalité, dans un entre-deux qui s ouvre comme une béance au moment où le handicap survient. Cette béance de l entre-deux est confrontation à la question de son origine, au pourquoi du handicap ? Pourquoi moi ? Pour quoi être et faire ? Cette confrontation peut privilégier tantôt le registre de l internalité, tantôt celui de l externalité pour l individu qui cherche une cause à sa situation. Quel que soit le chemin choisi dans le rapport à son handicap physique, l individu est tenu de se situer dans cet entre-deux du handicap, de nommer cet écart à la norme pour pouvoir répondre socialement et avoir un espace propre. Aborder ainsi cette question du handicap physique, c est finalement se poser la question des fins que l on poursuit aujourd hui, aussi bien individuellement que socialement. | ||
| 330 | |a I have devoted my research to the situation of disabled people, to the consequences on their personal construction and social integration when a disability occurs. When confronted to physical disability, our society responds in terms of means. It raises questions. One of them prevails: How? : How to allow the person to develop himself? How to allow that person to be and to do like everybody? What is the person able to do? This approach comes forward with a principle of equality. However, a disability leaves the individual in a situation of liminality, as regards normality, which appears to be a gap. Because of that gap, that is to say: being in between , a disabled person faces the question of the origin: Why this disability? Why me? How to be and what to do? Thus, this confrontation will favour either interiority or exteriority for the disabled person who is looking for an answer to the cause of his situation. Whatever the attitude adopted due to his disability, the person has to find a position in that gap created by the handicap, to name it as regards the norm so as to be able to interact socially and to have his own space. To tackle the issue of disabled people, we have to ask ourselves what we are aiming to from a social or individual point of view. | ||
