| Résumé : | L auteur de la présente thèse a suivi le développement tout au long de l œuvre de fiction de Julien Green (1900-1998) de la thématique de la corruption (et de la métaphysique du mal qu elle implique), sa culmination dans une troublante nécessité spirituelle du Mal. Influencé par la tradition puritaine (et notamment par Hawthorne), Julien Green, écrivain américain, mais ayant écrit la plus grande partie de son œuvre en français, en transplante, dans la littérature française, les leçons les plus intrépides et les plus sombres sur une nature humaine irrémédiablement viciée.La conversion de Green, protestant à l origine, à un catholicisme intransigeant n ayant fait que conforter sa croyance à la doctrine du péché originel, de la présence du mal en l homme, dans l univers.A partir de ces convictions de base radicales s est développée une œuvre d une singulière puissance. The author of the present thesis followed the development of the thematic of the corruption troughout the work of Julian Green (1900-1998) (and of the metaphysics of the evil which it implies), its culmination in a disturbing spiritual necessity of the evil. Influenced by the important American puritanical tradition (in particular, at his beginnings, by Nathaniel Hawthorne), Julian Green (a writer of American nationality, but having written most of his work in French) transplants the most fearless and the darkest lessons on an irreparably vitiated human nature, in the French literature.The conversion of the young Julian Green originally protestant, into an intransigent Catholicism having only consolidated his faith in the doctrine of the original sin, the presence of evil in man, in universe. From its radical basic convictions developed a work of a singular power. |
