This book uses a wide range of primary and secondary sources to nalayse and explain a key phenomenon in world economic history. Professor Israel lays particular emphasis on the interaction between markets and commercial activity in widely separate parts of the world, notably southern Asia, the Near East, West Africa, and the Caribbean, with Dutch penetration of relatively nearby European markets, especially France, Spain, Russia an the Baltic." |
